Gardena High School has been producing fine musical artists and composers for years. This humble campus, nestled in the South Bay, has managed to incubate the creative spirit represented by timeless, legendary music, known worldwide. Gardena High School students were known as “Mohicans.” However, in 1998, the name was changed to “Panthers.” Rather than cutting short the legacy of Gardena Mohicans, their reputation is growing! Insisting on recognition as major contributors to American Jazz Culture, Kevin O’Neal and the Gardena Mohican Love All Stars are instituting new traditions.
Taking a tip from the L.A. Philharmonic, Gardena High composers are featured. The All Star Orchestra features Gardena High School alumni from several years: 1960’s – Current. Kevin O'Neal is the director, bassist, composer and arranger who leads this orchestra. Gardena Mohicans are on the move and growing. You can become a Gardena Mohican by association, marriage, DNA relations…or by joining us celebrating Gardena Mohican Love. Please come be a part of a family who refuses to be marginalized.
